6. Rocky Broad Riverwalk
After picking up a few souvenirs, take a relaxing stroll along the Rocky Broad Riverwalk, a scenic path just a short drive from Bubba O’Leary’s General Store.
The easy trail follows the rushing Rocky Broad River, weaving past giant boulders, rustic wooden bridges, and shady trees, making the walk feel extra peaceful.
If you’re visiting on a warm day, you can carefully dip your feet into the chilly water, skip rocks, or enjoy a picnic along the riverbank.
It’s the perfect spot to stretch your legs, soak in the peaceful surroundings, and take in a different side of Chimney Rock Village.
7. Chimney Rock
Now head to the area’s most famous attraction, Chimney Rock, a 315-foot gneiss monolith inside Chimney Rock State Park that stands 2,280 feet above sea level.
For a quick trip to the top, ride the 26-story elevator, where panoramic views stretch across Lake Lure, Hickory Nut Gorge, and miles of forest beyond.
If you’re up for more of an adventure, climb the 494-step Outcroppings Trail instead, passing rock formations like Gneiss Cave and Pulpit Rock along the way.
With dramatic overlooks, incredible photo opportunities, and some of North Carolina’s most iconic scenery, it’s a stop you won’t soon forget.
8. Hickory Nut Falls
For one last unforgettable stop, follow the Hickory Nut Falls Trail to Hickory Nut Falls, one of North Carolina’s tallest waterfalls, where the water plunges 404 feet.
The 1.4-mile out-and-back hike takes you through a mature forest, with gently rolling trails, rocky terrain, and a short set of stairs near the base of the falls.
Afterward, stand back and feel the cool mist from the waterfall while taking in the gorgeous scenery, especially in the fall when the forest bursts with color.
