Ready for a full day of waterfalls, jaw-dropping views, and a little bit of adventure mixed with lazy lake time?
Tallulah Gorge is one of Georgia’s most epic spots, and trust me, you don’t need to be a hardcore hiker to have an amazing time here.
This guide will take you through all the best things to see and do in one perfect day but with just enough surprises to keep it fun.

Think wild suspension bridges, crazy stairs, swimming holes, and a few hidden gems you’ll be glad you didn’t miss.
Let’s hit the road!
1. Tallulah Falls Main Street

This main street sits just off U.S. Highway 441 in the tiny mountain town of Tallulah Falls, right next to the jaw-dropping Tallulah Gorge State Park.
This stretch of road is short but packed with charm.
Expect local shops selling Georgia-made fudge, a cozy café with rocking chairs out front, and an old general store that looks like it was transported from centuries ago.
It’s the perfect spot to grab snacks before hiking the gorge or pick up a Tallulah Falls souvenir.
2. Tallulah Point Overlook

Just a two-minute drive from Main Street, you’ll hit Tallulah Point Overlook which is a legendary roadside stop that’s been wowing travelers since the 1910s.
This place gives you a front-row view of Tallulah Gorge right from the parking lot.
You’ll definitely want your camera for a zoomed-in look at the gorge’s nearly 1,000-foot drop.
Just a heads-up, the coin-operated viewers that were once at Tallulah Point Overlook are no longer available since the gift shop moved downtown.
3. Tallulah Gorge Rim Trail

Once you’ve soaked in the view from the overlook, it’s time to hit the Tallulah Gorge Rim Trail which is one of the easiest ways to explore the top edge of this massive canyon.
The full loop is about 2.6 to 3 miles round-trip with around 500 feet of elevation gain, and it takes you to six epic overlooks, including Inspiration Point on the North Rim and the jaw-dropping Tempesta Falls view.
You’ll cross a suspension bridge 80 feet above the gorge, feel the wind in your hair, and probably stop way too many times for photos (no shame, it’s stunning).
4. Hurricane Falls

If you’re feeling brave, take the stairs down into the gorge to see Hurricane Falls up close.
This roaring 96-foot waterfall is one of the biggest highlights in Tallulah Gorge State Park, and the mist at the bottom will totally cool you off after that leg-burning descent.
The trail takes you across a suspension bridge that hangs just above the falls, so you’ll hear the thunder of the water and feel like you’re right in the middle of the action.
5. Tallulah Gorge Interpretive Center

After climbing back up (go ahead and take a break), swing by the Tallulah Gorge Interpretive Center which is way more fun than it sounds.
Inside, you’ll find cool exhibits about the gorge’s geology, crazy-high waterfalls, and the time tightrope walker Karl Wallenda crossed the canyon on a wire in 1970.
There’s even a mini theater showing short films about the gorge, stuffed wildlife and an air-conditioned bathroom you’ll definitely appreciate after all those stairs.
6. Tallulah Falls Dam

Not far from the Interpretive Center, you’ll spot the Tallulah Falls Dam—a concrete beast that’s been holding back the river since 1913.
On most days, the water trickles out slowly, but during scheduled water releases (usually select weekends in spring and fall), the gorge turns wild with raging Class IV and V rapids that draw expert kayakers from all over.
Even when it’s calm, the view of the dam and the peaceful lake above it is super cool, especially if you walk the short path to the top for a better look.
7. Tallulah Falls Beach

Just up the road from the dam, Tallulah Falls Beach is the surprise chill spot you didn’t know you needed.
It’s a sandy little stretch along Tallulah Lake where you can swim, paddleboard, or just float around while soaking up mountain views.
There’s a picnic area and a dock for fishing which is just what you need to unwind and cool off after hiking the gorge.
8. Tallulah Jumping Rock

If you’ve still got energy and a little fearless streak, head to Tallulah Jumping Rock just down the road which locals know as the spot for big summer thrills.
It’s a natural rock ledge that draws a crowd on warm days and perfect for cooling off in the deep, clear water of Tallulah Lake.
Even if you’re not jumping, it’s a fun place to hang out, cheer people on, and feel like you’ve found one of those secret spots only insiders know about.
