The tiny diner was founded by Isaac N. “Nick” Bullington, and the Bullington family has kept the business going through multiple generations.
Despite the Texas name, this place is pure Roanoke, and its old-school storefront and glowing neon sign are pretty hard to miss.
It’s best known for its Cheesy Western, a hamburger topped with a fried egg, cheese, pickles, and the tavern’s signature relish.
Another longtime favorite is the World Famous Chile, inspired by a recipe Bullington discovered in San Antonio before opening the tavern in 1930.
You can also order hamburgers, hot dogs, Club Breakfast Sandwiches like the Three Eggs, Meat & Toast, and other wonderfully unfussy diner staples.
