Overview – When Is The Best Time Of Year To Visit St Kitts & Nevis?

The first thing to know about St Kitts & Nevis is that it experiences a hot, tropical climate all year round. This is due to its location in the Caribbean. 

Peak season is between the months of December and April. This is the driest time of year and average daily temperatures are between 28ºC and 29ºC.

Between May and June, the weather is still fairly dry but temperatures increase to around 30ºC to 31ºC. This is just after peak season.

Rainy season is between July and November. This is also the official hurricane season. October and September are the rainiest months and you may experience showers or potentially tropical storms. Temperatures are high, between 30ºC to 31ºC

December – April

Average temperature: 28ºC – 29ºC. 

This is the best time of year to visit St Kitts & Nevis for the best weather and is the peak season for tourists. 

Although you’ll get the best weather during this time, be aware that prices are the most expensive at this time of year. It is more comfortable at this time of year as the temperature drops a little compared to the summer months. 

This is the driest time to visit and it’s highly unlikely that you’ll experience any rain at all.

Another great reason to visit during this time is to experience Carnival which runs in December. You’ll see the St Kitts & Nevis National Carnival taking place in the middle of December.

Be prepared for street celebrations, parades, bright costumes and impressive performances. People come from far and wide to take part in the Carnival. This is another popular reason for visiting during this time.

Christmas is a very popular time to visit as many people come to the island for some winter sun. It is wise to book as far in advance as possible as hotels are very popular and book up fast.

May – June

Average temperature: 30ºC – 31ºC

If you’re wanting to save a bit of money then the best time of year to visit St Kitts & Nevis would be between May and June.

This falls just after the peak season but just before the rainy, hurricane season begins. Outside of the peak season (Dec – Apr), hotels tend to lower their prices so you could get a really good deal on your stay.

It is still very dry at this time of year and it’s unlikely that you’ll experience any rain at all. This is one of the hottest times of the year to visit, with temperatures sweltering up to 30ºC or 31ºC most days.

July – November

Average temperature: 30ºC – 31ºC

You’ll find really low prices from July to November but many restaurants, hotels and attractions close during this time as it is low season. This is also the time of year where you’ll experience the most rain.

This time of year is the official hurricane season so it’s important to check weather reports beforehand however storms only tend to hit during September and October. The risk of a hurricane hitting is pretty low but you may experience a tropical storm if you get unlucky.

It’s worth noting that when it does rain, this is usually just a short but heavy shower. Despite this, there are still plenty of sunshine hours throughout the day where you can explore the islands or relax on the beach peacefully.
