Generally staying in the town is cheaper than staying in a resort. There are plenty of guesthouses and hotels prior to entering the National Park on the road that runs from Na Dan Pier to Sai Kaew beach.
It is also filled with amenities such as shops – there are two 7-Elevens that are literally opposite each other and plenty of local shops to buy clothes, souvenirs, beach towels and everything else that you’ll need.
The hotels/guesthouses here are reasonably priced and are all within close walking distance to the beaches.
Here’s some top picks in this area:
This is one of the cheapest options available with some rooms as cheap as $17.50 per night even during high season. It is more basic than others on the island but it is clean and has all the necessities. It is also pretty close to Sai Kaew beach (450 yards).
This one is a great budget option and is just 50 yards from Koh Samet’s main beach, Sai Kaew. It features simply furnished, clean rooms at a decent price at ~$35 per night during high season.

Mid Range Hotels & Resorts
These hotels range from $70 – $150 per night.
If you’re not on a tight budget but don’t want to pay a fortune for a private beach resort, then take a look at these mid-range hotels that have everything you’ll need and more, but won’t break the bank.
Just 450 yards from Sai Kaew beach, this hotel is ideally located. It has a good range of facilities and nice rooms for a decent price (~$70 per night during high season).

If you’re looking for something a bit more upmarket, then Koh Samet also has a range of luxury resorts – many leading onto a private beach area.
Here’s our top picks:
Situated right on Koh Samet’s main beach, this resort is perfect if you want to be in the liveliest area close to all the restaurants, bars and shops. It has 3 outdoor pools and 2 beachfront restaurants. You can also take part in a variety of watersports here. Expect to pay ~$200 per night here during high season.

This one is situated at the southern tip of the island. This exclusive resort features individual thatched-roof villas with private pools and as it is far from the main area of Koh Samet, it is secluded and feels like you’re on a private, paradise island.
