If you’re visiting Bora Bora soon then you might be wondering where to find halal food in Bora Bora.
You’re not the only one. That’s why I’ve put together this awesome guide on where you can find the best halal food.
I’ve included restaurants both on the main island and at the most popular resorts.
What is the Religion of Bora Bora?
Christianity is the dominant religion in Bora Bora. For this reason, you may find it a struggle to find halal meat in Bora Bora.
Some people think that Bora Bora is Muslim but this isn’t true. It’s sometimes confused with the Maldives which is a Muslim country.
In fact, there are only an estimated 500 Muslims in French Polynesia total, however most of them live in Tahiti where you’ll find a mosque.
Halal Food in Bora Bora
As Bora Bora is a Christian country, the meat is not halal in most restaurants.
Food options are fairly limited in Bora Bora with French and Polynesian cuisine being the most popular choice.
You can also find some Asian cuisine and the odd burger but that’s about it.
Due to the lack of halal meat, the best way to ensure you’re eating halal in Bora Bora is by eating vegetarian or fish/seafood based meals.
Unfortunately the restaurants in Bora Bora just don’t order in halal meat as the numbers of Muslims visiting are small overall.
Luckily fish is super common in Bora Bora and a speciality so you won’t have any trouble at all finding it.
