6 Awesome Destinations That Should Be On Your Bucket List

I seem to spend a lot of my time day dreaming about all the places that I want to visit in my lifetime. I keep a list on the notes in my phone of all the destinations and it is getting quite long now. Today, I wanted to share the top destinations on my list that I REALLY want to visit. Hopefully, it may inspire your next vacation!

Nepal is one of those countries that I never really knew much about and it was never talked about much in school. Other than the fact that it is home to Mount Everest, I probably couldn’t have told you anything else. But recently, I have become more interested in it and it is rising up my list fast!

Recently, I visited a Nepalese restaurant in my hometown and they have some beautiful artwork from Nepal that really inspired me to visit! Of course, you can’t go to Nepal and not see the biggest mountain in the world so a trip to Mount Everest would be a must! The scenes from all around this mountain are absolutely stunning and something I definitely need to see for myself. I’d also love to do the trek to Everest base camp; I know that it would be pretty tiring, but I think it would be so worth it as so few people can say they have trekked up Everest!

As well as Everest, the capital city of Kathmandu is another incredible place to visit. This city has some really breath-taking sites including lots of temples and palaces. In Kathmandu you can really experience the culture of Nepal so I definitely need to visit!

A few years ago, I visited India and absolutely loved it. I’ve been saying ever since that I’d love to go back and see more of India as it is such a big, diverse country. As Nepal and India are neighbours, I can see myself doing a joint trip visiting some more of India then travelling up to Nepal to see the sites.

Western Australia

Australia is one of those places that I have always wanted to visit my whole life. Recently, I have been doing more research into Australia and have even considered doing a working holiday over there for a year. Since then, I have realised that Australia is actually so much bigger than I think it is! The cities are super far apart and the size of the country is actually even bigger than Europe! There are so many different cities to visit and each has something different to offer.

Since researching the different cities and states, I have been particularly interested in visiting Western Australia, of which the main city is Perth. Due to the size of Australia and its location, Perth is actually one of the most isolated cities in the world. Due to the sheer size of Australia, Perth is actually closer to Indonesia than it is to Sydney. It would be so cool to visit this city, as it is in its own world.

The main reason I really want to visit Western Australia is because the coast is truly stunning. A common trip is to hire a car and drive upwards from Perth along the Western coast. Along the way, you will see beautiful, isolated beaches and turquoise lagoons. Some places are really rural, so you won’t see anyone for days and then you’ll just arrive upon an empty, sandy beach. This trip is definitely near the top of my bucket list!

My brother is actually moving to Australia soon so I think this trip is definitely something I can see happening in the next few years as I would love to go over to visit him and his family.

Phi Phi Islands, Thailand

After visiting Thailand last year, I have been itching to go back. In particular, I loved visiting the Thai islands as the beaches are just stunning. The Phi Phi islands in Thailand offer exactly what I am looking for. Some of these islands don’t have any residents and some don’t even have roads. They truly are the definition of island paradise.

I’m currently planning on returning to Thailand soon so I can see myself visiting these beautiful islands in the near future. There are actually so many islands like this in Thailand, including Krabi and Phuket. I’d also like to see more of the Thai cities. There are still so many things I haven’t done in Bangkok yet and I’d also love to visit Chang Mai too.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

As a big Game of Thrones fan (let’s not talk about the final season), I am eager to head over to Dubrovnik in Croatia as it is the setting for King’s Landing, the capital city in Game of Thrones. Not only is it a beautiful city, as many episodes from Game of Thrones were filmed here, I’d love to walk the city’s streets and be able to recognise landmarks and buildings from scenes in the show.

Dubrovnik is a really old town and in the past,  I have enjoyed visiting these kinds of places across Europe. There are some really nice old towns in Greece that I have been to and loved, so Dubrovnik seems like a city I would absolutely adore! It is filled with old churches and buildings, all surrounded by the city walls. There is also a harbour and you can take boat trips out onto the water.

I can definitely see myself visiting Dubrovnik soon. As I live in England, flights across Europe are super cheap so a trip to Croatia wouldn’t be too expensive and would be easy to plan. I’d definitely have to take some Game of Thrones inspired outfits to get some cool Instagram photos.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is probably right at the top of my list of places to visit. However, unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be ticking this one off anytime soon. Firstly, the flights themselves cost a few thousand pounds and the hotels will cost even more. You can easily spend £10,000 on a trip here! Additionally, the flights are super long. Many of them have 3 stopovers and can be over 2 days long! However, I am determined to visit this incredible tropical paradise one day as it is truly an unreal dream.

Bora Bora is a very luxurious destination (if you hadn’t already guessed by the prices) and has lots of top 5-star hotels. I’d love to stay in the cabins they have that are situated on top of the ocean, they often have slides/stairs that go straight into the ocean from your room! I’ve seen hotels similar to this in the Maldives, it would be an absolute dream to stay somewhere like that!

As I mentioned, I don’t think I’ll be visiting Bora Bora anytime soon, although it is on my bucket list. I think it would be the perfect honeymoon destination so maybe one day I will make the journey to this breath-taking tropical island paradise.

Tokyo, Japan

I have been really interested in Japan for a number of years now and I can even speak a bit of Japanese. Whilst I was at university, I studied modules in Japanese for 2 years. Since then, I’ve been wanting to visit to not only use my Japanese language skills but to experience the incredible culture.

Japan has a really interesting and unique culture that I fell in love with during university. Tokyo has so much to offer and I’d love to spend some time there, and even live there for a short time if possible. This city is a huge mix of so many things that are all super different. Stunning, traditional temples, interesting cafes, restaurants, shopping malls and more.

I’d love to go during the spring to see the sakura (cherry blossom). It is really famous, and you can only see it for a short period in the year so it would be wonderful to see something so rare. Tokyo also seems to have many unusual places to visit. For example, they have cat cafes and maid cafes, it would definitely be interesting to experience these.

There are also so many other cities in Japan I’d love to visit. Kyoto, Osaka, Okinawa, Hiroshima and Sapporo are also on my list. I think a big tour of Japan would be an incredible vacation and they have amazing transport links, so it is easy to get around.
